About these guides

Travel pages online tend to say the same things about everywhere. They list attractions without saying which are worth the time, quote entry fees that were true years ago, and quietly avoid mentioning that the boat only runs twice a day.

What we try to do instead

Each guide says what a place actually is, what the journey involves, and how long a visit realistically takes. Where something is a constraint — a limited boat service, a hard climb, a road that closes after dark — it is stated plainly, because that is usually what decides whether a plan works.

Facts that go stale

Entry fees, permit rules and opening hours change. These are only shown when they have been checked against a named source, and they appear with that source and the date of the check. Where nothing has been verified, the page says so rather than filling the gap with a plausible number. A figure that is confidently wrong costs a reader more than a blank does.

Distances

We link destinations to temples in the same region, but we describe them as regionally related rather than nearby, and we do not publish distances or journey times we have not measured.
